Zone Labs Now Says It Will Patch Free Firewall

from the public-outcry dept

Earlier this week there was a lot of attention paid to the fact that Zone Labs, makers of the very popular ZoneAlarm personal firewall said they wouldn’t fix a security hole, because they didn’t think it was likely anyone would exploit it – but if people were really worried they could upgrade to the paid for version of the product. People stated pointing out that you don’t get people to trust your security products if you officially leave security holes in them, and it appears the outcry worked. Zone Labs now says they will patch the security hole.
