J.D. Edwards Sues Oracle Over PeopleSoft Bid

from the keep-on-battling dept

While the lawyers convinced PeopleSoft’s board not to file a lawsuit against Oracle for their hostile bid, there’s no reason J.D. Edwards needed to stay out of court. They’ve now filed a $1.7 billion lawsuit against Oracle and Larry Ellison for “tortiously” interfering with their proposed merger with PeopleSoft. They’re also seeking a court order that would block Oracle from moving ahead with their attempt to buy PeopleSoft. They’re claiming that the sole purpose of this hostile bid was to harm both J.D. Edwards and PeopleSoft. With the back and forth verbal barbs and lawsuits, this battle doesn’t show any signs of quieting down for some time.
