Now that no one in their right mind wants to be identified as a “dot-com”, the Oxford English Dictionary has decided to include it in their latest edition. This goes along with cut-and-paste, screensavers and search engines in the technology world. I’m surprised that most of these took so long to become “official”.

The writeup didn’t give any hint as to whether it will be defined only in the dryest online business sense, or whether it will describe the negative post-bubble connotations: “I’ve deleted three more inflated resumes from dot-coms.”
