Sen. Schumer Attacks Wireless Companies

Senator Charles Schumer from New York, who has already talked up his planned “Cell Phone Users Bill of Rights” legislation spent some time getting some publicity by bashing most of the carriers for adding in hidden fees to their bills. He pointed out that many of these fees were completely made-up while others were for services that weren’t being implemented. Of the major carriers, apparently only Verizon and T-Mobile avoided adding these sorts of fees. While I do agree that a lot of these fees are ridiculous, this seems like just a publicity stunt for Schumer. These particular fees have been around for quite some time and there have been a number of debates about them in the past. If Schumer wants to get rid of them, then he might as well get his legislation out on the table so people can look at the details.
