802.11b Chipset Prices Could Fall 75% This Year

As competition keeps heating up the 802.11b chipset market – both from different chipset makers and from the new 802.11g systems, it appears that the cost of the chipsets continues to drop through the floor. While this probably isn’t good news for the chipset makers, it certainly should continue the trend of cheaper WiFi equipment – which (hopefully) should lead to many more innovative uses.
