Small Taiwan DVD Chip Firm to Take on Phone Giants

A small Taiwanese firm that makes chips for DVD players has decided to diversify by jumping into the mobile phone chip making market. They see the market as being so large that they can easily snap up some (if just a little) marketshare from companies like Texas Instruments and Motorola. They’re hoping to leverage their location to get deals with Taiwanese phone manufacturers, to push out the American companies.
