VC For A Day

from the look,-people-still-have-ideas dept

Lots of pessimistic folks out there keep saying that startups are dead and no one has any good ideas any more. Of course, that’s not true, but it’s always good to be reminded. A writer from Business 2.0 was given a chance to check out the entrepreneurial spirit by acting as a judge for a business plan competition for students at Wharton. While not all the ideas sound that promising, it’s clear that there are still plenty of creative ideas out there that people are working on. In the end, though, it still comes down to having a good business understanding of the market you’re in – which is why a completely non-tech company (pet insurance) ended up winning the competition over flashier companies that couldn’t convince the judges that their markets really existed (or where that large).
