Microsoft, Montana Consumers Reach Deal

from the another-week,-another-settlement dept

One by one, Microsoft is settling the various lawsuits filed against it by states. The latest on the list is Montana, which gets $12.3 million for its troubles. Once again, the agreement isn’t in the form of cash but in “vouchers” for hardware and software – meaning that the “settlement” will probably just end up putting more Microsoft products into the market. Update: Meanwhile, Massachusetts and West Virginia continue tilting at windmills as they are still fighting the federal settlement on the anti-trust suit. How long until they get with the program and cough up their dignity for some vouchers they can pass onto their public schools too?
