Simulators Helpful To Pilots In Iraq
from the it's-all-a-game dept
US pilots who flew missions over Iraq are now saying that the flight simulator training they did with fake missions over Iraq, helped them feel more comfortable when it came time for the real thing. They say the simulators have become so good that it really gave them a feel for the terrain, the threats, and even the weather of the region. People are now predicting that even more money is going to be spent on building up simulator technology for the military. At some point, you have to wonder where the line gets drawn between “playing a video game” and “fighting a war”. Are we that far off from an Ender’s Game type scenario where people actually fighting a war think they’re just playing a simulation game?
