New Technology To Allow Airports To Screen Passengers Easily, Thoroughly
from the sounds-good dept
A year ago, or so, I was flying somewhere (I think it was an airport in Florida), and I was pulled out of the security line to go through a new “experimental” scanning device. I stepped into a little doorway thing, and had to stand there for about five seconds while little puffs of air blew up and down my body. It sounds like those types of scanners are getting more attention, and airport officials are excited about some new advances to this type of scanner that may eventually let people quickly go through airport security without even having to dump their bags on the security conveyor belt. The system sounds like it can search for plenty more than the usual security scan as well. The article suggests it can determine if you have any drugs on you, which goes beyond checking to see if you’re carrying any weapons or the ever-dangerous set of nail clippers.

And that's not all!
Not only are there trace chemicals floating off your bags, there’s plenty of skin cells soughing off your body at the same time. Is Scanner II a DNA sampler?
