Porn Spammer Claims Deceptive Emails Not Deceptive – And He Won't Do It Again

from the yeah,-right... dept

Last week the FTC filed a civil suit against a porn spammer who was sending out porn with deceptive subject lines. Today, in court, the spammer agreed that he will stop sending such deceptive spams, and then goes on to say he doesn’t think his spams with subject lines “new movie info” and “did you hear the news” that link to his “married, but lonely” porn site were misleading anyway. In other words, he’s saying “I haven’t done anything wrong, but I won’t do it again”. The guy sounds like a real winner. A few years ago he was arrested for some other reason, and when police wouldn’t give back his ID, he told them he’d just print out a new one on his computer. The FTC says they’re not done yet. They say this is just a temporary injunction (which he’s unlikely to follow anyway, based on his claims that his emails weren’t deceptive), and the case will go on. They’re hoping to get a permanent ban on his deceptive emails and will also try to recover some of the money he’s received via these deceptive emails.
