Mac Music-Swapping Software Makes A Comeback

Back in January, Apple forced a developer to shut down his iCommune file sharing service, saying it misappropriated their iTunes software. As predicted at the time, the developer has written a standalone version that he released this week. He’s hoping that the RIAA leaves him alone since he isn’t making any money on the software, and is just releasing it as an open source project. This, of course, won’t stop the RIAA. Apple had no comment, but others have suggested that Apple planned it this way, so that the RIAA can’t bug them at all, but Mac users still get the handy file sharing application.
