Fight Back Against SMS Spam
A South African marketing organization has decided that they need to do something to prevent mobile SMS spam from becoming a problem, so they can continue to pump out their “legitimate” SMS ads. So, they’ve set up a system to help people track down those responsible for sending mobile spam and to report them. I wonder how well it will work, since they’re likely to be somewhat biased. However, I’m sure it won’t be long before there are other such services – and they’ll often be run by the same sorts of violently anti-spam folks who run email-based anti-spam services as well. Hopefully by trying to plan for this early, SMS spam won’t become a similar problem to email spam.
