Fraudsters Scam Registrar

from the so-many-scams,-so-little-time dept

Not a day seems to go by when a new online scam isn’t revealed. The latest is that someone sent out an email that looks to be from an Australian Registrar telling people it’s time to renew their domain registrations and pointing them to a page to enter their credit card details. Oddly, the article suggests that the real registrar’s domain was actually hijacked, though that doesn’t appear to be the case (looks like they just faked email headers). Even more strangely, no one reporting on the article thought to contact the actual registrar who was being spoofed to get their comment.
