Eurofirms Embrace 802.11
The latest research from Frost and Sullivan shows strong interest from European enterprises in deploying Wi-Fi for mobile workers. But when asked about Bluetooth the response was much cooler. 69 percent of respondents said they have have no plans for using Bluetooth within their companies. Frost and Sullivan see this as a potential blow to the future of Bluetooth adoption. However when you consider that the main BT enterprise application is connecting notebooks and mobile phones for wireless Internet access the real risk is to GPRS and UMTS data services. Until those services are more appealing to enterprises, Bluetooth doesn’t have much relevance in the enterprise market.
