Unemployed Tech Workers Sharpen Skills On A Budget

When the tech downturn first hit, post-layoff gatherings were described as “pink slip parties” where people would gather, drink away their lost jobs, and talk about how they wanted to take some time off. As things got worse, these events turned into “networking events” where people hoped to make contacts to find a new job. Now, we’ve gone one step further. A new non-profit organization is organizing technology training sessions for laid off employees to help get their technology skills up-to-date so they can (hopefully) find another job.
