E-voting Plan Advances Without Paper Backup

from the disaster-waiting-to-happen dept

Santa Clara County (in California) has decided to move forward with their plans for

an electronic voting system that doesn’t leave a paper backup trail, despite vehement opposition from technologists who have pointed out the risks of doing so. The county supervisors say they’re now more aware of the risks and will take them into account during trials of the voting machines. Of course, they don’t say what they’ll do if they discover an election has been manipulated.
