RIM Gets Colorful

While we think that RIM should focus more on software the company continues to crank out new hardware. After getting FCC approval for a new low-end device the company has been quitely demonstrating color prototypes. Lower priced and color devices indicate RIM’s interest in going after a broader market than just business users. At this point they admit they are just thinking about it. Given their struggle in the enterprise space, I can’t see how going after individual user will help them. It’s already a very crowded field. At least on the enterprise side their software gives them an advantage with IT managers.
