Wap Returns From The Grave

Actually WAP never really went away. People just stopped bashing it and therefore it didn’t get any press. It has quietly continued to exist and people have found uses for it. GPRS and color handset have improved the user experience. People are realizing that WAP isn’t about browsing but about getting snippets of info quickly. More importantly companies have found ways to charge for WAP content which gives premium content services a business model. Having a business model where content providers could earn money was the real innovation of i-mode and the thing that was always missing in WAP.
