Richard Clarke's Legacy Of Miscalculation

from the thanks-for-everything dept

For a while, it seemed like every article about “cybersecurity czar” Richard Clarke would start out with some bit about how he was “highly respected” within the security industry. However, it always seemed odd that he was so focused on the threats of cyberterrorism, when so many people pointed out there were much larger things to be worried about. Now SecurityFocus has written a “farewell” to Clarke describing his legacy of miscalculations over the years. It may be a little extreme – and I’m sure Clarke thought he was doing the right thing. However, as the article makes clear, people who blindly trusted Clarke’s warnings may have been a bit too trusting.
