Microsoft, Symbian Heat Up Battle for Mobile Web

A few announcements from both Microsoft and Symbian today show how the wireless OS market battle continues to heat up. Microsoft announced that T-Mobile in Germany will become the second European carrier to offer phones using their Smartphone OS, while Symbian announced a $27 million investment from Samsung. At this point in the battle for market share, things are so wide open that it’s tough to say how big an impact either deal will have, but you can be sure there will be plenty of posturing from each company over how important a “step” these deals are.
