AOL Losing Speed Race To Road Runner
from the what-are-they-thinking? dept
Yet another example of just how badly the execution has been on the AOL-Time Warner deal. While it’s something of a repeat article from a Wall Street Journal article a few months back, the Washington Post takes a look at how, even though AOL is struggling to figure out a broadband strategy, its sister company Road Runner (owned by Time Warner Cable, which is – of course – owned by AOL Time Warner), is entirely independent. The two companies are competing with each other, and aren’t doing anything to help drive the obvious synergies. There are some scary quotes from executives at the various entities that show why the AOL Time Warner merger was held up more by idiotic politics, rather than a fundamental flaw in the deal.
