Wireless Rivalries Fuel Fight Over a BellSouth Executive
A good NY Times article looking at the current (very angry) battle over whether or not a current BellSouth exec will be allowed to take over Sprint. The main issue is about the wireless arms of each company. The guy serves as Chairman of (partially-owned-by-BellSouth) Cingular, and as such has quite a bit of information about their plans. Clearly, having access to all that info could help Sprint PCS. There’s also some internal politics to deal with, as BellSouth execs are angry at how Cingular has been losing customers while the other carriers are growing. Of course, if he’s chairman and they’re losing customers, wouldn’t they be happy to ship him off to a competitor?
