Ring, Ring! It's Your Soul Mate

Wired News is talking about how the various wireless carriers are suddenly big believers in offering dating services over their soon to be mandated-by-the-FCC location-tracking systems. They know that online dating services have been a big hit (and a big money makers) and they see the advantage of moving such a service to a mobile phone, and making it even better by letting you find people who are located nearby. Similar systems have apparently done well in Japan and Europe, though some in the US are a little freaked out by the location tracking part. Of course, you would be amazed at what sort of private information people might be willing to give up, if it will get them a date…
