Super Bowl Is Prime Time For Big TVs

from the drool dept

When I first moved to California, I actually survived six whole months without a TV. Then, without warning, I realized the Super Bowl was coming up. That was all it took to make me head out to a local chain store and get myself a TV, which is still in use. It seems I’m not the only one to make a Super Bowl-related decision to buy a TV. Apparently, this is the time when people go out and buy bigger TVs. There’s just something about watching the Super Bowl on a TV that is bigger and better than what you’re used to. So, while the Super Bowl may no longer be a big boost for ridiculous dot coms with their commercials, at least it’s still helping one hot sector.

Super Bowl = More Friends = Bigger TV

Super Bowl is a special time of the year when people invite their friends *and* their friend’s spouses over for a football game.

The most guys I’ve ever seen get together for a non-SB game is 5-6, whereas I’ve been to Super Bowl parties with over 30 people. It’s much easier to get a large group of people in front of a big screen TV than a small screen TV.

If you notice, almost all of the ads for TV sales right now are for the BIG screen TVs, as that is what people are wanting to buy for the BIG game.

Wait a month or two and all the over-stock big screens will go on sale. Last year in early March I bought a Hitachi 60″ digital rear projection system, they knocked off almost $1000 from the original price, threw in a 4 year protection plan, delivery and a Monster brand S-video cable.

I didn’t get to see the big game on it last year, but that’s a small price to pay to save $1000 and get a bunch of freebies.
