Because It's There: Putting Everest Online

The NY Times has a story about a guy who is trying to build the highest internet cafe at the base camp for Mt. Everest. It’s a difficult project, requiring a satellite link lower down on stable ground, and then using a WiFi connection to beam the signal up the mountain. Yet another example of a remote place using WiFi to bring internet access to an area that many people thought would remain cut off forever.
