Internet Device Market Continues to Grow

In-Stat/MDR defines the Internet device market as anything connected to the net but a desktop computer. They believe that the market for such devices will grow 28.2 percent between 2001 and 2006. In 2006 alone they expect over 790 million Internet devices shipped. Device makers should be pleased to hear that Internet capable PDAs will be one of the key segments driving this growth. Which makes sense if the device makers can find the right form factor that balances PDA and phone functionality well enough and convince people to replace their handsets with them. But will it be a handset company or a PDA company that gets there first?
