Luddites Respect The Internet
from the get-your-info-online dept
The latest in a long line of studies from the Pew Internet and American Life Project has found that even people who don’t use the internet expect to be able to find information online. In fact, many say the next time they need information, they’ll go online. Most of the non-users know about the internet because they either had internet in the past or knew someone else with internet access that they’ve used. The same study found that (not surprisingly) more Americans are online, and those online have high expectations about the information they’ll find as well. This, of course, is great timing, just as big media companies like AOL prepare to remove information from the internet in the belief that their own walled garden will be a stronger draw than the internet as a whole.
