Critics Fear TV Broadcast Flag Would Stomp On Consumer Rights

from the going-on-the-offensive dept

It seems that the EFF and others opposed to the “Broadcast Flag” are going on the PR offensive. I think this is a good thing. In the past few years, on issues where consumers’ rights were at stake, corporations would largely drive the press coverage, leaving out the consumer point of view. Any fighting for the consumer often came in the opinion pages. Now, though, the AP has an article talking about all the reasons why folks like the EFF are afraid of what the broadcast flag might do to consumer rights. It certainly would be good if groups that look out for consumers rights in technology started to become more press savvy. While techies all seem to get the message, much of the rest of the population don’t seem to hear about these things.
