DMCA Critics Say Reform Still Needed

Despite the happy response of geeks all over the world to the ElcomSoft verdict, many people are pointing out that the DMCA still needs to be reformed, and this is just one case that doesn’t set much of a precedent. Rep. Rick Boucher still plans to introduce his bill next year that would rewrite parts of the DMCA, saying this case does little to impact the need to change the bill. Meanwhile, Dan Gillmor has his take on the verdict, and says that combined with the launch of Creative Commons, copyright has had two good days. Now, let’s see if it keeps up.
