Ericsson, Nokia, Siemens, Ohers Joining UN Handset Recycling Plan
The question of what to do with old, obsolete and discarded mobile phones and other wireless devices is a growing problem. It seems that Ericsson, Nokia, Siemens, and a bunch of other device manufacturers are now going to work with the UN on a plan to recycle old devices. There have been efforts to do this on an ad hoc basis, but working together with the UN makes it seem more likely that a real process can be worked out. This could also open up more opportunity to reuse old mobile phones to create inexpensive phones for poorer countries.
