Massive US Spy Computer Backlash

from the good-signs dept

It certainly didn’t take very long for the backlash to begin. Last week we had the story of a new super spy database being planned by the US government with Iran-Contra player John Poindexter playing a large role. There were plenty of people who immediately started pointing out why this was a horrible (probably un-Constitutional) idea. It seems that the backlash may be working. Already at least one Senator is looking to introduce legislation to make sure the system doesn’t infringe on privacy rights. I’m not sure how the system can function if it isn’t infringing on privacy rights. I’m also still wondering who came up with the “Total Information Awareness” name and the scary “seeing eye” logo. I get worried when life starts imitating B-movies.
