Locking Down The Pop-up Perps

from the one-good-use-of-the-Patriot-Act dept

While it’s unlikely anything will ever come of this, here’s an article suggesting that pop up ads violate the Patriot Act and can land to jail sentences for those who put pop up ads on their websites. As the guy says in the article, “what are pop-up ads but unwanted, unwarranted pieces of computer code, delivered through my unsuspecting browser, that cause my computer to do things I don’t want it to do, and cost me time, energy, and in some cases, loss of data when I have to reboot to remove them.” It would be nice to see someone sue a company for loss of data due to pop up ads, but practically, it’s unlikely to work.
