Powell: New Directions in Wireless Policy

Back in May I attended Pulver’s Connectivity 2002 which explored many issues related to who controls the future of the Internet. Much of that future is in the hands of the FCC. The problem is that the FCC’s charter is based largely on Communications Act of 1934 which is obviously out of sync with today’s communications environment. But change is in the air as indicated by FCC chairman Michael Powell’s most recent speech. The FCC is just at the point that they are openly admitting they have a problem. Actual change will take time.
