Reuters Accused Of Hacking

from the cutthroat-business-news-business dept

Apparently the world of business news reporting is so cutthroat that some are resorting to hacking. Swedish IT company Intentia is accusing Reuters, the well known news agency, of hacking into their computers and releasing their quarterly financial information early. I really doubt that someone at Reuters thought such news was so important that it was worth hacking into a computer to get it an hour or so before it was set to be released, but what do I know? I guess these days the business news companies are so desperate for news that they need to sneak it out early. Update: More details on the story. It seems that the company placed the info on a website with no protection. It wasn’t linked from anywhere, but it was available to anyone who knew the proper URL. Not sure how it’s “hacking” if they didn’t actually break into anything.
