FTC Nails More Spammers

Two spammers have apparently agreed to settle charges that were filed against them by the FTC. The two spammers were selling spam lists, and got in trouble for a number of reasons. The claims in the spam were deemed to be wrong or misleading. Among the claims was that a person could earn over $10 million by using the spam list to spam others, that the list included no duplicates, and that the list included almost everyone on the internet (while claiming at the same time that those on the list were “highly responsive” because they had requested to be on the list). The spammers have agreed to pay back $20,000 in profits that they raked in, and not to use such misleading claims again. This, of course, doesn’t mean they can’t spam again, just that they have to be more careful in the ridiculous claims they make.
