Siemens Gets Serious About The U.S.

With Cingular and AT&T transitioning from TDMA to GSM and with T-Mobile’s national GSM network, we’re seeing GSM handset makers get more serious about the US market. Siemens is the lastest to join the fold with 5 new GSM handset for the US market. Despite their big presense in the European and Asian markets, there have always been rumors that they are looking to sell off their handset business. But if they can get a big piece of the US market by helping big guys like Cingular and AT&T with their transition to GSM, maybe it will be worth their while to stay in the handset business. Or, at least it will be worth more when they finally decide to sell out.
