Internet Backbone Withstands Major Attack

from the and-no-one-noticed dept

Lots of news sites are picking up on this story. Apparently, there was a “major” attack on the internet backbone, when all 13 root servers were hit with some sort of denial of service attack – knocking out seven or eight of them. There was no noticeable slowdown, as the other servers picked up the slack. However, some are saying that the fact that this attack only lasted for one hour could be a sign that it was more of a “test” than a real attack.
