Wireless Users in the Enterprise Face Hard Choice

Is the wireless industry too focused on consumers? That is what eWeek concluded today. But they are wrong. eWeek only looked at what handset makers are doing and somehow skipped over enterprise solutions offered by carriers and scores of software developers. Handset makers, most notably Nokia, are consumer products companies. They focus on high volume, mass-market products. Enterprises tend to have specialized needs and there are many companies with both hardware and software solutions for them. The one challenging factor, which will improve over time, is the state of the networks. Wireless data and voice networks in the US still lack the blanket coverage, even in major metropolitan area, that companies need to justify wireless ROIs.
