Divine Looking To Enforce Shopping Cart Patents

There has been absolutely no shortage of ridiculous software and business model patents over the last decade or so. Now it turns out that Divine, the Chicago based company that has reinvented itself more times than most of us have fingers, has discovered that one of the companies they purchased (Open Market) just happened to have the patent on e-commerce shopping carts. Knowing that they need money (or as they say, they “need to maximize shareholder return”), they’re about to go after every site they can find that happens to have an online shopping cart.
