BREW and Java To Play Together

Qualcomm’s BREW platform has always been perceived as Java competitor despite Qualcomm’s attempts to position it otherwise. But now thanks to Insignia Solutions’ Mobile Foundation there is a Java virtual machine for BREW devices. Now carriers using BREW get the best of both worlds. They get BREW’s straightforward billing and provisioning platfrom and access to the large base of Java developers. The one potential problem though is performance. Running Java on BREW is like running Windows on a Mac. It’s damn slow.
