America's Worst Phone Service
from the come-to-me... dept
It appears my talent for destroying companies stretches beyond just broadband providers. The Wall Street Journal (reprinted at MSNBC) has done a study of the worst phone service providers in the US for both mobile phones and landline long distance. In both cases, I’m at the bottom of the barrel. MCI provides my landline service, and it’s true what they say about them. I need to check each bill over carefully, and often find random fees that don’t belong. My favorite MCI move, though, was how they promised me a free caller ID box to sign up for their “The Neighborhood” plan. I never got the box. When I asked about it a few months later, they told me “Oh, we’re not doing that anymore.” I pointed out it didn’t matter if they were doing it anymore, they promised it to me for signing up, and the woman told me there was nothing she could do. She even admitted that it was illegal for them to have done that, but she didn’t seem to care. On the mobile carrier side, the worst of the worst is my carrier, Sprint PCS. However, it’s followed closely by the provider of my brand new Danger Hiptop, T-Mobile, so I should have a fun time dealing with that. Sprint PCS has actually been very good to me, so I don’t have any complaints about them. Interestingly, the report says for long distance you should go for lesser known companies like IDT, but for mobile phones, bigger may be better, with Verizon coming out on top.

Re: MCI #
I need the number to the Corporate office of MCI. Does anyone have it out there? I have gone through the customer service, but they are of no help.
Thanks
Brian
Re: Re: MCI #
Hey Brian,
I don’t have the number to MCI corporate, but I wanted to let you know that you can be my customer and get one bill a month. your long distance and local bill could all be one. Best of all you don’t have to deal with crappy customer service agents I would personally take care of you. If your sick of telemarketing games or are just curious you can E-Mail me or if you are interested in a serious buisness opportunity that takes a little hard but fun work you can visit my web site at http://www.excelir.com/o2befree. Thanks for your time good luck.

MCI - False Advertsing
Please don’t believe MCI when they offer you a “bonus” for signing up. I had been trying to obtain local and long distance service from one company for quite awhile. So, when I rec’d the MCI Neighborhood offer, I was very interested. I called to confirm the offer: one monthy fee, all long distance and local and local long distance included, voice mail, caller id, call waiting ( basically THE WORKS!). Well the caller ID is only the phone number, not the “caller’s” ID. And, the real false advertising was the promised 10 Free Blockbuster Movie rentals, just for signing up, plus 1 movie rental per $50 of monthly charges. It is now 100+ days (3+ months) and I have rec’d zero, zip, zilch! The only responses I have rec’d from MCI customer service are: Sorry, we will express those out to you; Sorry, that offer is no longer in place; Sorry, we will file a complaint.
I have finally contacted thier corporate office the phone number is available with research. I have spoken to someone in thier marketing department and I anxiously await further response.
