Fighting Over The P2P Hacking Bill

from the can't-we-all-just-get-along? dept

There’s apparently a panel discussion right now concerning the various opinions people hold on the Berman Hollywood Hacking bill, that would let copyright owners hack P2P systems in an effort to “protect” their intellectual property. It’s pretty clear that people on both sides of the issue are nowhere near consensus. My favorite quote is from the economist who clearly doesn’t understand economics, as he says those who are against the bill are Marxists, trying to “live out Karl Marx’s dream that we can take anything we want.” Someone needs to remind him about marginal costs and efficient markets.
