More Mobile Chatting Expected By 2006

The Yankee Group is predicting that Americans will almost double their wireless phone usage by 2006. The main trends will be people increasing the number of personal calls they make wirelessly and less dependence on their landline phones. Yankee sees landline replacement as a $50 billion dollar opportunity. While the demand might be there, the big question is will carriers be able improve coverage to lure people away from landlines. One reason so many people keep landlines is that coverage works when they are in city centers and business areas, but they often lack coverage in and around their homes.
