Napster For Mobile Phones

from the well,-not-really dept

It’s amazing these days the number of news stories that still like to call just about any thing that lets people share files “Napster for insert something here“. The latest is this BBC article which is describing what they call a Napster for mobile phones. Of course, it doesn’t look like a real Napster type system at all. It’s just a storage space that people can access via their mobile phones, and use to send files to other phones. It doesn’t have any searching capabilities, or the ability to access other people’s storage areas. It certainly could be useful, but the “Napster” label is just to draw some extra hype (and possibly, a fun lawsuit from the RIAA).
