ISPs vs. Hollywood?
from the the-battlefield-expands dept
Following Verizon’s pushback to the entertainment industry asking them to police their own users, and the article we posted last week about the history of Silicon Valley vs. Hollywood, comes this latest article that points out why ISPs are gearing up to fight Hollywood. They’re not doing it to protect consumers’ rights, but to protect their own business interests. They fought long and hard to make sure they weren’t blamed for users’ infringements, and are scared that the latest moves mean that they will again be put in that position. Maybe they’ll learn from this that you can’t trust the entertainment industry, which is showing, once again, that short-term greed tramples long term smart business decisions.
