Forget Computers, Buy Consumer Electronics
from the shifting-down-market dept
While the PC industry struggles along, it seems that consumer electronics products continue to sell well, and some technology companies are beginning to take notice. While consumers and companies may be putting off expensive PC purchases, they are willing to pick up the latest (cheap) DVD player or other consumer electronics, and so tech companies are inching their way in to get a piece of that business. What this could lead to is a real push towards the “convergence” that people always like to talk about. Already, companies like Sony and Microsoft are looking to make their game consoles more central to a household’s computing and entertainment needs – and as people are more and more interested in consumer electronics over computers, this trend should continue.

Lack of reason to buy new computers
It looks like question “why would anyone need a computer that fact” is finally begining to have no answer to more and more people. People can see or have heard of the advantages of a DVD player or digital camera, its hard to explain why you need to replace a 733 Mhz computer with a 2.5 GHz computer.
