Be Wary Of Politicians Looking To Can Spam
from the everything-looks-like-a-nail... dept
The latest column from Declan McCullough says that a bunch of folks in Washington have gotten together for a “private, invitation-only” meeting to figure out what to do about spam. Since it’s DC, and these are political people, the end result is going to be legislation, because that’s the hammer they hold and spam legislation is suddenly looking like a big nail. However, as Declan points out, it’s unlikely that the legislation will do anything helpful at all, and is likely to just cause more problems. A few people at the meeting apparently tried to convince them legislation was the wrong way to go, but they were in a minority. As one of the participants says, they are trying “to solve a political problem and not the real problem”.
