Drive-by Spam Hits Wireless LANs

from the remote-possibilities dept

It seems that broadband ISPs have a new overhype tactic that they’re using to scare people into shutting off open WiFi access. They’re trying to make people afraid that spammers will use their network to send spam, which will force the ISP to shut them down. This seems like a pretty remote possibility, but it makes for good headlines. I also like how this article tries to “blame” warchalking for this. Oh my! People are indicating where open networks are! I thought some people thought that was a good thing.
