Get Rid Of Software Piracy By Getting Rid Of Piratable Software

from the one-solution dept

Among all the various proposals for governments to only use open source software, it seems that Venezuela has gone ahead and approved such a law. While, of course, this continues the debate as to whether or not anyone should be forced into using open source software, the backers of the plan point out one (slightly unexpected) reason for going forward with the plan. They say they’re trying to help out folks like Microsoft who are concerned about all the software piracy going on. If they’re not using any proprietary software, then there can’t be any piracy. Problem solved. Microsoft should be thrilled.
